About Delhi Sports School

Delhi Sports School is Delhi’s first fully residential school dedicated to sports which aims to facilitate students to achieve the highest level of excellence in their chosen sport and perform at major national and international sporting events. It is operated and managed by Delhi Sports University. Students are provided with world class sports infrastructure and training facilities in the 10 identified Olympic Sports. Sporting excellence among students is nurtured alongside academics through a specialised sports integrated curriculum from grades VI to XII. The assessment of students is based on their sporting performance along with the academics.

The Principal

The Principal of Delhi Sports School shall be appointed in such manner, and shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be prescribed.

Board of Studies:

  • i) It shall be the principal academic body within the University School of Study and shall supervise and plan the academic activities of the School.
  • ii) The composition of the Board of Studies shall be as prescribed.

School Research Committee:

  • (i) It shall be the principal research body within a University School of Study and be responsible for the research activities therein.
  • (ii) The composition of the Board of Studies shall be as prescribed Early Sports-Talent Scouting and Grooming.
  • (iii) The University shall establish, administer and manage a boarding school for scouting and grooming sporting talent from early ages.
  • (iv) The School shall identify and admit students with sporting talents at sixth standard onwards and train them for a successful professional career in sports.
  • (v) The school shall serve as the specialized feeder institution for the University and the students passing out from the School shall be encouraged to continue with the Delhi Sports University.
  • (vi) The course structure, course curriculam and content of the School shall be in the nature of liberal academics and rigorous sports training. The academic content of the course curriculum may be based on the institutions administering liberalized schooling system like the National Open Schooling System (NIOS) or Delhi Patrachar Vidhyalaya and the corresponding content of the Sports Training module shall be developed by the School and approved by the Sports and Academic Council of the University.
  • (vii) The school may be affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education or a board of Physical Education established by the Govt. Of National Capital Territory of Delhi if it is not possible to get such affiliation from CBSE because of its stated objectives of the liberalized academics and rigorous sports training module.
  • (viii) The day to day functioning, administration and management of the school shall be under the control of the Principal of the School. The position of the Principal of the School shall be equivalent to the position of the Director, Community Outreach and Extension Services.
  • (ix) The overall supervision and the administration of the school shall vest in the Vice Chancellor of the University. However, with a view to promote it as a professionally managed institution for sports, the school shall have an autonomous character.
  • (x) The school shall endeavor to develop its own academic and sports infrastructure and facilities in tune with the requirements of the school children. The school will have University appointed teachers and sports professionals for imparting day to day teaching and the sports training to its students.
